Last week I took a laser-cutting class at NYC Resistor. I’d stopped by their table at MakerFaire, and thought it might be fun to try laser cutting. It was, of course, awesome; who doesn’t like lasers? I made a small necklace for myself, chatted with some interesting people, and left feeling pumped.

Well, last Thursday I headed down to their Craft Night with my roommate to play with the laser some more. Her mom is a chocolatier, and thus equipped us with some chocolate bars to experiment with. Tasty.

It turns out that chocolate etches pretty well, and you can get some decent cuts, but you can’t cut all the way through. (Not enough vaporizes, so it melts back on itself before the laser makes it through. Or you burn it. Yuck.)

Laser-etched chocolate is still yummy!
